Harlem’s Fashion Row Designer Retreat
Brief: Conceptualize a dynamic event aimed at building community and providing valuable resources for designers of color.
Role: Creative Strategist & Marketing Associate
Objectives: Empower and support over 75 designers of color by creating a 3-day interactive retreat in partnership with Nike, focusing on design innovation, brand building, and navigating the fashion industry.
Key Challenges: Attract a diverse group of BIPOC designers, ensure high engagement, and effectively manage event logistics and sponsor relationships.
My Actions:
Event Conceptualization: Ideated and developed the overall vision for the retreat, ensuring alignment with Harlem’s Fashion Row's mission to uplift designers of color.
Program Development: Curated a robust lineup of workshops and panels featuring industry leaders, focusing on topics like design innovation, brand building, and navigating the fashion industry as a designer of color.
Speaker and Sponsor Management: Secured and managed a diverse group of speakers, including high-profile fashion industry professionals. Cultivated relationships with event sponsors, ensuring their active participation and alignment with the event’s objectives.
Marketing & Promotion: Designed and launched a targeted marketing campaign to drive ticket sales, leveraging digital channels and partnerships. Created a compelling event landing page that effectively communicated the retreat’s value to prospective attendees.
The Result: Successfully attracted a diverse group of over 75 designers, with high engagement throughout the event. The retreat received positive feedback from attendees and sponsors alike, bolstering Harlem’s Fashion Row’s reputation as a leader in championing BIPOC talent in the fashion industry.
